Port Huron hangs on, beats Jamestown 4-2Jamestown Sat, Feb 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Huron Fighting Falcons beat the Jamestown Ironmen, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Kyle Plageman provided Port Huron with the game-winning tally when he scored 2:38 into the the first period. Jonathan Kopacka provided the assist.Plageman had a great game for the Fighting Falcons, netting two goals. By firing 34 shots on goal, Port Huron exceeded the 26.3 shots it averages per game this year. Port Huron also got a goal from Dan Dupell as well. More assists for Port Huron came via Vito Aluia, who had two and Dunk Abbott, Mitch Maloney, Ian Miller, Nick Horne, and Matthew Uvodich, who each chipped in one. Jamestown's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 15 shots on net during the game. The Ironmen's offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 28.0 shots per game they average. Jamestown was helped by Kenny Curtis, who grabbed one goal. Curtis scored on the power play 18:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Port Huron. The Ironmen had taken the advantage when the Fighting Falcons' Uvodich got sent off for interference. Evan Ritt picked up the assist. Ross Pavek also scored for Jamestown. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were Tyler Minx, Ryan Urso, and Dylan Zink, who contributed one a piece. Max Milosek recorded 31 saves for Port Huron. The Fighting Falcons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Blake Wojtala made 30 saves for Jamestown on 34 shots. The Ironmen incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
