Wenatchee beats Fairbanks 2-1 after comeback scare

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Wenatchee Wild would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

Wenatchee took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have Fairbanks storm back on a Mike Parnell goal 7:41 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Wild were led by Trace Redmond, who had one goal. Redmond scored 2:18 into the third period to make the score Wenatchee. Blake Butzow assisted on the tally.

Wenatchee stifled the Ice Dogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 44 shots on target during the contest, the Wild exceeded the 29.7 shots they average per game this year.

Wenatchee also got a goal from Jono Davis as well. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Jacob Barber and Max McHugh, who each chipped in one.

Fairbanks did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Ice Dogs put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Fairbanks were Logan Wendling and Lonnie Clary, who contributed one a piece.

Robert Nichols rejected 21 shots on goal for Wenatchee. The Wild incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Fairbanks' Steve Perry stopped 42 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Ice Dogs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
