Fresno falls to Fairbanks in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Fresno Monsters on a clutch goal by Garret Clemment.

Fairbanks overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Ice Dogs fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Fresno's Matt Salituro at 51 seconds in the third period. Fairbanks tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Lonnie Clary at 15:45 in the third period.

The Ice Dogs were led by Clemment, who finished with one goal and one assist. Clemment scored 40 seconds into overtime to make the score 3-2 Fairbanks. Jayson Angus provided the assist.

Fairbanks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Fresno power plays. By firing 38 shots on goal, the Ice Dogs exceeded the 26.0 shots they average per game this year.

Patrick Newell also scored for Fairbanks. More assists for Fairbanks came via Duggie Lagrone, Nick Hinz, and Devin Loe, who contributed one a piece.

The Monsters could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 19 minutes in penalties during the game.

Fresno was helped by Kyle Sucher, who had one goal. Sucher scored 10:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fresno. Karl Andersen assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Fresno were Sean Kalbak, who had one.

Steve Perry rejected 13 shots on goal for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Tomas Sholl recorded 35 saves for the Monsters.
