Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Texas Tornado defeated the Wichita Falls Wildcats in a shootout 4-3 (3-1 SO). The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. Wichita Falls' shootout goal was scored by Rudy Junda. Texas also got shootout goals from Brandon Hawkins and Nick Neville.The Tornado overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Texas was down 2-0 after a goal by the Wildcats' Nick Farmer at 12:07 in the first period. The Tornado tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Colin Staub at 12:53 in the third period. Jason Eddy had a great game for Texas, netting two goals. Eddy's tallies came at 3:10 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and 7:41 into the third to make the score 3-2 Texas. The 36 shots that the Tornado put on net surpassed Texas' average of 29.7 shots per game this season. Jackson Leef also scored for Texas. In addition, Texas received assists from Neville, Louie Rowe, and CJ Reuschlein, who contributed one a piece. Wichita Falls was helped by Kyle Bauman, who racked up one goal. Bauman scored 7:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita Falls. Ben Kucera picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were Kristaps Bazevics and Eliot Grauer, who each chipped in one. The Tornado's Hunter Leisner stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Texas incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Evan Cowley rejected 32 shots on goal for the Wildcats. Wichita Falls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
