Brookings beats Coulee Region 5-4 as Cayemberg gets hat trick

Tyler Cayemberg netted a hat trick to lead the Brookings Blizzard over the Coulee Region Chill, 5-4.

Cayemberg's first goal came 9:30 into the second period. He then added goals at 4:08 into the third and at 19:08 into the third.

Brookings' offense rang up 47 shots on Coulee Region's net.

Brookings also got points from Jared Docken, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Adam Cavalinni, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Brookings received assists from Eric Brenk, who had two and Jordan Stejskal, Drew Brevig, Evan Hesse, Nick DeCenzo, Spencer Peratalo, and Eetu Karvinen, who contributed one a piece.

The Chill put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blizzard to score on any of their four power plays. With 32 shots on target during the contest, Coulee Region exceeded the 27.5 shots it averages per game this year.

The Chill were helped by Adam Lovick, who finished with two goals. Lovick scored the first of his two goals at 15:36 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Brookings. Eddie Matsushima provided the assist. Lovick's next tally made the score 4-4 with 6:04 left in the third period. Zach Doerring picked up the assist. Coulee Region additionally got points from Matsushima, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Garrett Hendrickson also scored for Coulee Region. Other players who recorded assists for Coulee Region were Derek Smith, Mac Jansen, and Hunter Anderson, who each chipped in one.

Chase Wilson rejected 28 shots on goal for Brookings. The Blizzard ended with seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major. Blake Cates recorded 42 saves for Coulee Region. The Chill totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play.
