The Soo Eagles relied on the scoring touch of Jared VanWormer, who netted two goals, to beat the Johnstown Tomahawks, 5-2.

VanWormer's tallies came on the power play at 16:21 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and 19:53 into the second to make the score 3-2 Soo.

Soo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. By firing 39 shots on goal, the Eagles exceeded the 27.8 shots they average per game this year.
