Austin's Simonson deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Coulee Region

John Simonson was all over the ice for the Austin Bruins, as he tallied two goals in Austin's 5-2 win over the Coulee Region Chill.

Simonson's tallies came on the power play at 10:43 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Austin and on the power play 11:14 into the third to make the score 4-2 Austin.

The Bruins excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. By firing 48 shots on goal, Austin exceeded the 29.8 shots it averages per game this year.

Austin also got points from Josh Bretner, who also had one goal and one assist, Jay Dickman, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Riley Colvard, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Austin came via Jake Flynn, Cody Dixon, CJ Smith, AJ Reid, and Brandon Wahlin, who each chipped in one.

Coulee Region put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.7 it averages per game.

The Chill were helped by Hunter Anderson, who registered two goals. Anderson scored the first of his two goals at 31 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Coulee Region. Sean Lang assisted on the tally. Anderson's next tally made the score 2-0 Coulee Region with 14:29 left in the first period. Mac Jansen provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Coulee Region were Brady Riesgraf, who had one.

Nicholas Lehr recorded 27 saves for the Bruins. Austin incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Coulee Region's Devin Kero stopped 43 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Chill ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
