Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Fresno Monsters defeated the Wenatchee Wild in a shootout 4-3 (3-0 SO). The two teams needed seven turns to complete the shootout. Fresno also got shootout goals from N McKee and Mitchell Snyder.With 26 shots on target during the contest, the Monsters exceeded the 15.6 shots they average per game this year. Fresno was led by McKee, who had three goals. Other players who recorded assists for Fresno were Ian Janco, Kyle Buffardi, J Fontaine, and Justin Plate, who contributed one a piece. Wenatchee's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Fresno power plays. The Wild's offense was clicking better than usual and put 44 shots on goal during the game, better than the 28.1 shots per game they average. Wenatchee was led by Jono Davis, who finished with one goal and one assist. Davis scored on the power play 2:18 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Wild earned a power play opportunity when Karl Andersen was put in the box for tripping. Noah Nelson picked up the assist. Wenatchee also got a goal from Nathan Flynn as well. More assists for Wenatchee came via David Mead, Joshua Hartley, Nicholas Kuchera, and Derick Kuchera, who each chipped in one. The Monsters' Macauley Haight stopped 41 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Fresno incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nick Schmit made nine saves before being replaced by Robert Nichols, who took the otl and made 13 saves. Wenatchee incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
