The Janesville Jets and the Kenai River Brown Bears were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Janesville made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Ryan Dau's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Todd Koritzinsky was all over the ice for the Jets, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Koritzinsky scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Janesville. Janesville had gained a power play chance when Alex Jackstadt was whistled for slashing. Jason Ford picked up the assist. Koritzinsky's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 6:56 left in the third period. A roughing penalty on Matt Seidel had put the Jets on the power play. Pedlan Ruslan assisted on the tally. Janesville's penalty kill excelled, as the Jets gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. Janesville stifled Kenai River's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jets relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Koritzinsky, Ford and Ruslan took 14 of the team's 23 shots. Other players who recorded assists for Janesville were Kucerovy and Zach Diamantoni, who contributed one a piece. The Brown Bears' penalty kill unit could not stop Janesville's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. Kenai River put 52 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.2 it averages per game. The Brown Bears were helped by Zac Lazzaro, who grabbed one goal. Lazzaro scored 18:14 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mikhail Bushinski picked up the assist. Kenai River also got a goal from Jake Bushey as well. In addition, Kenai River received assists from Jacob Davidson and Carson Vance, who each chipped in one. Austin Priebe rejected 50 shots on goal for the Jets. Janesville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kenai River's Marcus Zelzer stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Brown Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
