Coulee Region rides Cates to victory over Austin, 7-1Riverside Fri, Jan 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Blake Cates stood on his head and made 46 saves to lead the Coulee Region Chill to a 7-1 victory over the Austin Bruins. Mac Jansen had two goals to lead Coulee Region to victory. Jansen found the back of the net 12:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Coulee Region and again while 8:45 into the second to make the score 6-0 Coulee Region. The Chill excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Coulee Region's goal total was higher than its season average. The Chill have scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Coulee Region's offense was clicking better than usual and put 34 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.8 shots per game it averages. Coulee Region also got points from Kevin Becker, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Andy Faust, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Aleksi Mustaniemi also scored for Coulee Region. More assists for Coulee Region came via Cam Bleck, who had two and Derek Smith, Brady Riesgraf, Sean Lang, Eddie Matsushima, Adam Lovick, Jimmy Kortum, Max Zebro, and Garrett Hendrickson, who contributed one a piece. Austin's offense operated below it season average. The Bruins average 3.8 goals per game. The Chill were unable to stop Austin from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bruins eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Coulee Region incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nicholas Lehr took the loss and made 12 saves before being replaced by Jason Pawloski who made 15 saves. Austin incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
