Hunter Leisner was superb between the pipes for the Texas Tornado, as he did not allow a goal in a 2-0 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays. Texas was led by Jackson Leef, who had one goal. Leef scored 7:46 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Texas. Louie Rowe picked up the assist. The Tornado stifled Corpus Christi's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Texas' defensive play was more effective than usual against the IceRays. The Tornado average 2.5 goals allowed per game. The 44 shots that Texas put on net surpassed the Tornado's average of 30.9 shots per game this season. Texas also got a goal from Scott Conway as well. More assists for Texas came via Justin Greenberg and CJ Reuschlein, who contributed one a piece. Corpus Christi excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The IceRays could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Corpus Christi averages 3.1 goals per game. The IceRays were led by Andrew Paras, who took five shots. Hunter Leisner made 29 saves for Texas on 29 shots. The Tornado incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Corpus Christi's Ben Myers stopped 42 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The IceRays incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
