Fairbanks rips Janesville, 4-0

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs were firing on all cylinders against the Janesville Jets, and when the final buzzer sounded Ice Dogs emerged with a 4-0 win.

Fairbanks was led by Colton Wolter, who finished with one goal and one assist. Wolter scored on the power play 14:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs had gained a power play chance when Pedlan Ruslan was whistled for slashing. Jayson Angus picked up the assist.

Fairbanks was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Ice Dogs surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Fairbanks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Ice Dogs' defensive play was more effective than usual against Janesville. Fairbanks allows 2.5 goals per game.

Fairbanks also got points from Angus, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Fairbanks also got a goal from Doug Rose as well. More assists for Fairbanks came via Nick Hinz, Ryan McNeely, Devin Loe, Zack Rall, and Jacob Hetz, who each chipped in one.

The the Jets penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Janesville had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Jets average 22.5 shots on goal per game, but only sent 15 pucks on net against the Ice Dogs. Janesville could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Jets average 2.4 goals per game.

Kevin Aldridge rejected 15 shots on goal for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Brock Kautz took the loss and made 23 saves before being replaced by Austin Priebe who made three saves.
