Texas survives Corpus Christi comeback, wins 4-3

The Corpus Christi IceRays almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Texas Tornado managed to pull out a 4-3 win in the end.

Texas led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Tornado's Nick Blas's scored at 15:36 in the first period to put Texas up 3-0.

The Tornado were sparked by Jackson Leef, who finished with one goal and one assist. Leef scored 14:45 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Texas. Louie Rowe picked up the assist.

Texas managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Tornado finished below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Texas was below its usual level of shot production, taking 20 shots compared to the 31.2 the Tornado average.

Texas additionally got points from Rowe, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Texas also got a goal from Brandon Platt as well. In addition, Texas received assists from CJ Reuschlein, who had two and Cameron Brown, Andrew Mayer, Jordan Paine, and Justin Greenberg, who each chipped in one.

Corpus Christi managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. The IceRays wound up below its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game.

Corpus Christi was helped by Andrew Paras, who grabbed one goal. Paras scored 2:26 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Texas. Perry DArrisso assisted on the tally. Rudy Sulmonde also scored for Corpus Christi. Other players who recorded assists for Corpus Christi were Beau Walker, who had one and Emil Romig, who had two.

Hunter Leisner recorded 23 saves for Texas. The Tornado registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. The IceRays' Ben Myers stopped 16 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Corpus Christi registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
