Jamestown wins tough contest against Janesville, 4-3

The Jamestown Ironmen gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Janesville Jets.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ryan Urso secured the win for Jamestown with a goal in the third period.

The Ironmen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Janesville power plays.

Jamestown was led by Ryan Doucet, who grabbed two goals. Doucet scored the first of his two goals at 13:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Jamestown. Evan Ritt picked up the assist. Doucet's next tally made the score 3-3 with 9:39 left in the third period. Aaron Scheppelman provided the assist. Tyler Dunagan also scored for Jamestown. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were Nicholas Sierra, Brett Szajner, and Nathan Ropelewski, who each chipped in one.

Janesville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Jets were led by Pedlan Ruslan, who had two goals. Ruslan scored the first of his two goals at 3:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Jamestown. Zac Avolio assisted on the tally. Ruslan's next tally made the score 3-2 Janesville with 6:17 left in the second period. Conor Lemirande picked up the assist. Janesville also got a goal from Jack Billings as well. In addition, Janesville received assists from Ryan Gotelaere and Johno May, who contributed one a piece.

Tim Shaughnessy rejected 18 shots on goal for the Ironmen. Jamestown incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Austin Priebe recorded 25 saves for Janesville. The Jets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
