Brookings downs Coulee Region, 7-2Larson Ice Center Red Fri, Jan 04, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Casey Purpur had two points to lead the Brookings Blizzard to a 7-2 victory over the Coulee Region Chill. Brookings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Blizzard outdid their season average for goals scored. Brookings has scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign. The Blizzard's offense was clicking better than usual and put 57 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.3 shots per game they average. Brookings additionally got points from Justin Moody, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Evan Hesse, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Nikta Sokolov also scored for Brookings. In addition, Brookings received assists from Jared Docken, James McGing, Matt Youso, Adam Cavalinni, and Tyler Cayemberg, who each chipped in one and Connor Andrle and Eric Brenk, who contributed two a piece. Coulee Region was helped by Hunter Anderson, who tallied one goal. Anderson scored 39 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Coulee Region. Mac Jansen picked up the assist. Coulee Region also got a goal from Cory Lushanko as well. Other players who recorded assists for Coulee Region were Jesse Tredinnick and Andy Faust, who each chipped in one. Drew Weigman took the win and made 22 saves before being replaced by Kyle Miller who made three saves. Brookings totaled 53 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Blizzard, Brenk was ejected from the game. Blake Cates recorded 50 saves for the Chill. Coulee Region ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
