Andrew Mayer had 2 goals to lead the Texas Tornado to a 4-1 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays. Mayer's tallies came at 11:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Texas and 3:52 into the second to make the score 3-1 Texas.Texas put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Corpus Christi to score on any of its four power plays. With 37 shots on target during the contest, the Tornado exceeded the 30.4 shots they average per game this year. Jason Eddy also scored for Texas. More assists for Texas came via Alex Temby, Nick Neville, and CJ Reuschlein, who each chipped in one. The IceRays stifled Texas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Corpus Christi was led by Perry DArrisso, who scored the team's only goal. DArrisso scored 55 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Texas. Hunter Leisner recorded 21 saves for the Tornado. Texas totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 0-for-4 on the power play. The IceRays' Ben Myers stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Corpus Christi ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
