Fischer's big game bests Aberdeen in 5-1 Austin win

The Austin Bruins' Chris Fischer had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Aberdeen Wings.

Fischer's tallies came at 19:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 17:02 into the second to make the score 5-1 Austin.

The 43 shots that Austin put on net surpassed the Bruins' average of 28.6 shots per game this season.

Austin also got points from CJ Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist. Josh Bretner also scored for Austin. Other players who recorded assists for Austin were Scott Nelson, who had three and Cody Dixon, Jay Dickman, and Easton Viitala, who each chipped in one.

Aberdeen barely challenged the opposing goalie, launching only 11 shots on target to force 10 saves. Team.mascot's final shot tally was well below the team's average of 27.0 pucks on net per game. The Wings' defensemen bolstered Aberdeen's offensive attack, as they bombarded Nicholas Lehr with six shots.

The Wings were led by Jake Horton, who scored the team's only goal. Horton scored on the power play 15:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aberdeen. Aberdeen earned a power play opportunity when Dickman was put in the box for holding. Dylan Dailey provided the assist.

Lehr rejected 10 shots on goal for Austin. The Bruins incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Wings' starting goalie, Paige Skoog, made 38 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Marcus Zelzer, who stopped zero shots. Aberdeen incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
