The Fairbanks Ice Dogs and the Kenai River Brown Bears were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Fairbanks made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Devin Loe secured the win for the Ice Dogs with a goal in the third period. Fairbanks was sparked by Loe, who registered one goal. Loe scored 3:24 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Fairbanks. Chandler Madry picked up the assist. The Ice Dogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kenai River to score on any of its three power plays. Fairbanks' defensemen bolstered the Ice Dogs' offensive attack, as they bombarded Gustaf Johansson with 15 shots. Fairbanks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 28.6 shots per game it averages. Fairbanks additionally got points from Colton Wolter, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Nick Hinz, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Fairbanks came via Logan Wendling, Garret Clemment, and Patrick Newell, who each chipped in one. The Ice Dogs were unable to stop the Brown Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Kenai River eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Brown Bears were helped by Bryan Hodges, who had one goal. Hodges scored 16:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Kenai River. Albin Karlsson provided the assist. Kenai River also got points from Karlsson, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Kenai River received assists from Jake Bushey, Alec Butcher, and Alex Jackstadt, who contributed one a piece. Kevin Aldridge recorded 30 saves for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Gustaf Johansson made 33 saves for Kenai River on 36 shots. The Brown Bears incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
