Johnstown rolls over Jamestown, 5-0

The Jamestown Ironmen had trouble finding ways to stop the Johnstown Tomahawks, which beat Ironmen, 5-0.

Johnstown was led by Connor Wright, who had one goal. Wright scored 12:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Johnstown. Zack Wallace provided the assist.

The Tomahawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Johnstown put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.0 it averages per game.

Johnstown additionally got points from Andrew McDonald, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jordan Watt also scored for Johnstown. Other players who recorded assists for Johnstown were Cody Gylling, who had two and Ian Spencer, Casey Nelson, and Jeff Bergh, who each chipped in one.

Jamestown racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The Ironmen had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. Jamestown averages 27.8 shots on goal per game, but only sent 19 pucks on net against the Tomahawks. The Ironmen's offense operated below they season average. Jamestown puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game.

The Ironmen were led by Ross Pavek, who took three shots.

Collin Brennan recorded 19 saves for Johnstown. The Tomahawks totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 2-for-9 on the power play. Jamestown's starting goalie, Reid Mimmack, made 25 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Tim Shaughnessy, who stopped three shots.
