Drew Weigman recorded a shutout against the Aberdeen Wings as the Brookings Blizzard picked up a 2-0 win. Brookings pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 44 penalty minutes. The Blizzard were led by Eric Brenk, who grabbed one goal. Brenk scored 4:25 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Brookings. Adam Cavalinni assisted on the tally. Brookings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Aberdeen power plays. The Blizzard was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Brookings gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. The Blizzard relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Thomas Williams, Cavalinni and Justin Moody took 23 of the team's 40 shots. Brookings also got a goal from Nikta Sokolov as well. More assists for Brookings came via Craig Lindegard and Tyler Cayemberg, who each chipped in one. The Aberdeen penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game the Wings had been spending in the box. Aberdeen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Wings could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Aberdeen averages 2.5 goals per game. The Wings were led by JD Cotroneo, who took three shots. Drew Weigman made 30 saves for Brookings on 30 shots. For the Blizzard, Matt Youso was ejected from the game. Marcus Zelzer rejected 38 shots on goal for Aberdeen.
