GAME RECAP

Minot clinches tight 1-0 victory against Austin

Maysa Arena    Sat, Dec 01, 2012

The Minot Minotauros beat the Austin Bruins 1-0 in a game that featured tenacious defense, solid goalkeeping and a winning score from Jadin Martin.

The assists on the winning goal came courtesy of Zack Holstrom and Paul Sorenson.

Minot was sparked by Martin, who tallied one goal. Martin scored 5:26 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Minot. Holstrom assisted on the tally.

The Minotauros put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Austin to score on any of its three power plays. With 28 shots on target during the contest, Minot exceeded the 23.3 shots it averages per game this year.

The Bruins stifled the Minotauros' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Austin was below its usual level of shot production, taking 22 shots compared to the 28.1 the Bruins average. Austin did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bruins average 3.6 goals per game.

Austin was led by Riley Colvard, who took three shots.

Tyler Parks rejected 22 shots on goal for Minot. The Minotauros incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nicholas Lehr made 27 saves for the Bruins on 28 shots. Austin incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
