Brian Berry scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Kenai River Brown Bears held off the challenges of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in a tough 2-0 win. Berry provided Kenai River with the game-winning tally when he scored 4:54 into the the first period. Alec Butcher provided the assist.Gustaf Johansson spearheaded the defensive effort for the Brown Bears, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 30 saves for the shutout. Johansson managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.56 prior to the game. Kenai River was led by Berry, who grabbed one goal. The Brown Bears stifled Fairbanks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kenai River's defensemen were a huge part of the offense, scoring two goals and taking 11 shots. Ryan Walker also scored for Kenai River. More assists for Kenai River came via Albin Karlsson and Alex Jackstadt, who contributed one a piece. The Ice Dogs could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Fairbanks puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Ice Dogs were led by Jacob Hetz, who took four shots. The Brown Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kevin Aldridge rejected 24 shots on goal for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Fairbanks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Hogland was ejected from the game.
