Jamestown holds on for 4-3 win against Fresno

The Fresno Monsters tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Jamestown Ironmen would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Jamestown made the score 4-2 on a goal by Nicholas Sierra at 12:00 in the second period, and Fresno got as close as 4-3 when Christian Salvato scored 2:32 into the third period.

Sierra had one goal and two assists to lead the Ironmen.

Jamestown kept the Monsters' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tomas Sholl made 27 saves on 31 shots. The Ironmen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Jamestown also got a goal from Ryan Urso as well. In addition, Jamestown received assists from Brett Szajner, Ross Pavek, Victor Johansson, and Dylan Zink, who each chipped in one.

Fresno was helped by Jacob McDowell, who tallied one goal. McDowell scored 5:09 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Jamestown. Drew Aspinwall picked up the assist. James Mathias also scored for Fresno. More assists for Fresno came via Brandon Brossoit, Dan Sherer, Matt Salituro, and Trevor Husch, who contributed one a piece.

Reid Mimmack rejected 15 shots on goal for Jamestown. The Ironmen registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Monsters incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
