Eric Rivard finished with two points to lead the Soo Eagles to a 5-2 victory over the Springfield Jr. Blues.

Soo put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Springfield to score on any of its five power plays. The Eagles put 42 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.9 they average per game.

Soo also got points from Robin Hoglund, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Jared VanWormer, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Kyle Loridon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Soo also got a goal from Alexander Taulien as well. Other players who recorded assists for Soo were Michael Lant and Tyler Marble, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Blues kept Soo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Marble made 35 saves on 37 shots.

Springfield was helped by Oliver Takacsi-Nagy, who finished with one goal. Takacsi-Nagy scored 17:01 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Soo. Brett Skibba also scored for Springfield. In addition, Springfield received assists from Nate Chasteen and Mike Fazio, who each chipped in one.

The Eagles incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Matt Leon made 37 saves for the Jr. Blues on 42 shots. Springfield incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
