Topeka boosted by Viele's play in net, beats Texas 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Spencer Viele helped the Topeka RoadRunners defeat the Texas Tornado, 2-1.

Topeka was led by Kyle Sharkey, who registered one goal and one assist. Sharkey scored 12:46 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Topeka. Sean Gaffney assisted on the tally.

The RoadRunners' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Texas power plays. With 29 shots on target during the contest, Topeka exceeded the 24.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Drew Kariofiles also scored for Topeka. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Michal Pastor and Mick Bruce, who contributed one a piece.

Texas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Tornado's offense operated below they season average. Texas puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.

The Tornado were led by Nick Blas, who scored the team's only goal. Blas scored 15:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Texas. Justin Greenberg picked up the assist.

Spencer Viele made 27 saves for the RoadRunners on 28 shots. Topeka incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hunter Leisner rejected 27 shots on goal for Texas. The Tornado incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
