Amarillo downs Odessa, 8-3

TJ Sherman racked up two points to lead the Amarillo Bulls to an 8-3 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes.

Amarillo surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Bulls have scored at the pace of 4.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Amarillo put 67 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.6 it averages per game.

Amarillo also got points from Tyler Deresky, who also had one goal and one assist, Tyler Gernhofer, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Omar Mullan, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. John Rey also scored for Amarillo. Other players who recorded assists for Amarillo were Connor Frey, Garret Peterson, Conor Jonasson, and Joe Grabowski, who contributed one a piece and TJ Sarcona and Mike Davis, who each chipped in two.

Odessa forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. The Jackalopes surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game.

Odessa was led by Lawrence Cornellier, who registered one goal and one assist. Cornellier scored 7:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Odessa. Jalen Krogman assisted on the tally. Odessa also got a goal from Taylor Portner as well. In addition, Odessa received assists from John Feemster, Cody Slocum, and Anthony Olguin, who contributed one a piece.

Collin Delia made two saves before being replaced by Paul Berrafato, who took the win and made 13 saves. The Bulls totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Phil Heinle took the loss and made 46 saves before being replaced by Blake Wojtala who made 13 saves. The Jackalopes registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
