Johnstown survives Jamestown comeback, wins 3-2Jamestown Sat, Nov 24, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Johnstown Tomahawks survived a determined comeback attempt by the Jamestown Ironmen on the way to a 3-2 win. Johnstown took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Jamestown storm back on a Luc Gerdes goal 9:42 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Tomahawks were sparked by Mitch Kontny, who tallied one goal. Kontny scored on the power play 5:55 into the third period to make the score Johnstown. Johnstown had taken the advantage when the Ironmen's Mitch Hall got sent off for cross checking. Brandon Reinholz picked up the assist. The Tomahawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jamestown to score on any of its three power plays. The 27 shots that Johnstown put on net surpassed the Tomahawks' average of 23.7 shots per game this season. Johnstown's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 11 shots on net during the game. Johnstown also got points from Reinholz, who also registered one goal and one assist. Johnstown also got a goal from Cody Gylling as well. In addition, Johnstown received assists from Jake Fairchild, who had one and Casey Nelson, who had two. The defense for the Ironmen played an important role offensively, racking up 15 shots on goal. Jamestown put 37 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.8 it averages per game. Victor Johansson also scored for Jamestown. More assists for Jamestown came via Matt Lanzillotti, Ross Pavek, and Nathan Ropelewski, who contributed one a piece. Chris Truehl rejected 35 shots on goal for the Tomahawks. Johnstown incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tim Shaughnessy recorded 24 saves for the Ironmen. Jamestown incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
