Kenai River survives Wichita Falls comeback, wins 2-1

The Kenai River Brown Bears survived a determined comeback attempt by the Wichita Falls Wildcats on the way to a 2-1 win.

Kenai River made the score 2-0 on a goal by Alex Jackstadt at 15:18 in the third period, and Wichita Falls got as close as 2-1 when George Pagonis scored 18:03 into the third period.

The Brown Bears' Gustaf Johansson was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 32 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Johansson will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.7.

Kenai River was led by Jackstadt, who racked up one goal.

The Brown Bears put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Wildcats to score on any of their five power plays. Kenai River was below its usual level of shot production, taking 16 shots compared to the 25.3 the Brown Bears average.

Matt Seidel also scored for Kenai River. More assists for Kenai River came via Vincent Stefan, Albin Karlsson, and Zac Lazzaro, who contributed one a piece.

Wichita Falls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kenai River power plays. The Wildcats' offense rang up 33 shots on Kenai River's net.

Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were Nick Farmer, who had one.

The Brown Bears incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Evan Cowley recorded 14 saves for Wichita Falls. The Wildcats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
