Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Bismarck Bobcats defeated the Aberdeen Wings in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for nine attempts between the teams.Bismarck's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Aberdeen power plays. With 40 shots on target during the contest, the Bobcats exceeded the 25.8 shots they average per game this year. Bismarck was helped by Patrick Moore, who racked up one goal. Moore scored on the power play 11:20 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Bismarck. The Bobcats earned a power play opportunity when Jonathan Grebosky was put in the box for slashing. Levi Blom picked up the assist. Bismarck also got points from Mike Dockry, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Bismarck also got a goal from Bob Kinne as well. In addition, Bismarck received assists from Rory Vesel, Sean Madigan, and Joe Giordano, who contributed one a piece. Aberdeen was below its usual level of shot production, taking 22 shots compared to the 29.4 the Wings average. Aberdeen was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes. The Wings were helped by Erik Baskin, who registered one goal. Baskin scored 17:26 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Kyle Haak provided the assist. Heinz Koster also scored for Aberdeen. Other players who recorded assists for Aberdeen were Dylan Dailey, Tommy Miller, Zach Kraft, and Tanner Holmquist, who each chipped in one. Aaron Nelson recorded 19 saves for Bismarck. The Bobcats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Aberdeen's Paige Skoog stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced.
