Michigan falls to Kalamazoo in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Robbie Payne gave the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Michigan Warriors when he scored 4:48 into the extra period.

Kalamazoo was paced by Payne, who tallied one goal.

The Jr. K-Wings managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Kalamazoo finished below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jr. K-Wings got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Kalamazoo put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.2 it averages per game.

Mark Esshaki also scored for Kalamazoo. More assists for Kalamazoo came via Taylor Burden, who had two and Brendan Vetter, Josh Dangel, and Mac McDonnell, who each chipped in one.

Michigan's offense rang up 31 shots on the Jr. K-Wings' net.

The Warriors were helped by Darren McCormick, who finished with one goal. McCormick scored 1:24 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Michigan. Shawn Badali provided the assist. Michigan also got a goal from Robert Click as well. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan were Brock Labelle, who had one.

Alex Okicki made 29 saves for Kalamazoo on 31 shots. The Jr. K-Wings registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Michigan's Trevor Gorsuch stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Warriors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
