Moore leads Bismarck over Austin, 5-1

Behind a great game by Patrick Moore, who had one goal and three assists, the Bismarck Bobcats defeated the Austin Bruins, 5-1.

Moore got on the board by slotting home a goal 11:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Bismarck. Adam Knochenmus provided the assist. Moore dished an assist on Shane Omdahl's goal that made the score 1-0 Bismarck at 11:11 into the first period. He then added assists on Omdahl's goal at 14:12 into the third and on Omdahl's goal at 17:34 into the third.

Bismarck pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 25 penalty minutes.

The Bobcats' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Austin power plays. Bismarck was below its usual level of shot production, taking 20 shots compared to the 25.8 the Bobcats average. Bismarck's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Bobcats average 2.6 goals per contest.

Joe Giordano also scored for Bismarck. In addition, Bismarck received assists from Levi Blom and Cory Chapman, who each chipped in one.

Austin could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Bruins average 3.5 goals per game.

Austin was led by CJ Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored 5:16 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Bismarck. Brandon Wahlin assisted on the tally.

Aaron Nelson made 22 saves for Bismarck on 23 shots. The Bobcats registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Bruins' Nicholas Lehr stopped 15 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Austin ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
