Huge game by Gerdes boosts Jamestown over Janesville, 5-2

Behind a great game by Luc Gerdes, who had one goal and two assists, the Jamestown Ironmen defeated the Janesville Jets, 5-2.

Gerdes beat Brock Kautz with a shot 15:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Jamestown. Michael Mazzotta provided the assist. Gerdes dished an assist on Tyler Dunagan's goal that made the score 3-0 Jamestown at 3:36 into the second period. He added another helper on Dunagan's goal that made the score 5-0 Jamestown at 12:36 into the second period.

Jamestown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Janesville to score on any of its three power plays. With 36 shots on target during the contest, the Ironmen exceeded the 28.0 shots they average per game this year.

Jamestown additionally got points from Ross Pavek, who also had one goal and one assist. Jamestown also got a goal from Victor Johansson as well. In addition, Jamestown received assists from Evan Ritt, who had one.

By firing 21 shots on goal, the Jets exceeded the 17.4 shots they average per game this year.

Janesville was led by Jack Billings, who racked up one goal and one assist. Billings scored 11:36 into the third period to make the score 5-2 Jamestown. David Longaker assisted on the tally. Bryan Kronberger also scored for Janesville. More assists for Janesville came via Matt Salituro, who had one.

Reid Mimmack made 19 saves for Jamestown on 21 shots. The Ironmen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brock Kautz took the loss and made 14 saves before being replaced by Austin Priebe who made 17 saves. The Jets incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
