Soo rides Nagelvoort to victory over Janesville, 4-1Janesville Ice Arena Sat, Nov 03, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Zach Nagelvoort stood on his head and made 37 saves to lead the Soo Eagles to a 4-1 victory over the Janesville Jets. Soo was led by Matt Menta, who finished with one goal. Menta scored 7:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Soo. John Nugent assisted on the tally. The Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Janesville to score on any of its four power plays. Soo's offense was clicking better than usual and put 31 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.4 shots per game it averages. Soo additionally got points from Jared VanWormer, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Eric Rivard, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Soo were Cody Von Reuden and Michael Covach, who each chipped in one. By firing 38 shots on goal, the Jets exceeded the 16.7 shots they average per game this year. Janesville was led by Jordan Himley, who scored the team's only goal. Pedlan Ruslan provided the assist. The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brock Kautz made 27 saves for Janesville on 31 shots. The Jets incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
