Fazio's big game bests Janesville in 3-1 Springfield win

Behind a great game by Mike Fazio, who had two goals and one assist, the Springfield Jr. Blues defeated the Janesville Jets, 3-1.

Fazio found the back of the net 16:30 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Springfield and again while 19:07 into the third to make the score 3-1 Springfield.

Springfield's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Janesville power plays. The 41 shots that the Jr. Blues put on net surpassed Springfield's average of 28.9 shots per game this season.

Springfield also got points from Brett Skibba, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Springfield received assists from Jack Sloan, Terry Leibo, and Mitch Rogge, who each chipped in one.

By firing 22 shots on goal, Janesville exceeded the 19.7 shots it averages per game this year.

The Jets were led by Zach Diamantoni, who scored the team's only goal. Diamantoni scored 6:03 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Janesville. Conor Lemirande assisted on the tally.

Ryan Kellenberger rejected 21 shots on goal for the Jr. Blues. Springfield incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Janesville's Brock Kautz stopped 38 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Jets incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
