Brookings hangs on, beats Coulee Region 3-1

Vsevold Kramerev scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Brookings Blizzard held off the challenges of the Coulee Region Chill in a tough 3-1 win.

Brookings took over the lead for good with a goal by Kramerev at 7:12 in the first period. Drew Brevig picked up the assist.

Thomas Williams was all over the ice for the Blizzard, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Williams found the back of the net 16:26 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Brookings and again while 19:32 into the third to make the score 3-1 Brookings.

Brookings kept Coulee Region's goalie busy throughout the game, and Aaron Davis made 29 saves on 32 shots.

More assists for Brookings came via Jordan Stejskal, who had two and Nick DeCenzo and Cody Marooney, who each chipped in one.

The Chill stifled the Blizzard's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The defense for Coulee Region played an important role offensively, racking up 11 shots on goal.

The Chill were led by Matt Williams, who scored the team's only goal. Williams scored 12:50 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brookings. Tyler Klein assisted on the tally.

Drew Weigman rejected 24 shots on goal for Brookings. The Blizzard incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Coulee Region incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
