Brookings rips Coulee Region, 5-1Larson Ice Center Red Fri, Oct 26, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brookings Blizzard had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Coulee Region Chill. Brookings got the win behind a great game by Evan Hesse, who had two goals and one assist. Hesse scored the first of his two goals at 10:55 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brookings. Micah Ranum assisted on the tally. Hesse's next tally made the score 4-1 Brookings with 9:32 left in the third period. Justin Moody picked up the assist. The Blizzard put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Coulee Region to score on any of its five power plays. Brookings put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.2 it averages per game. Brookings additionally got points from Moody, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Thomas Williams, who also registered one goal and one assist. Drew Brevig also scored for Brookings. In addition, Brookings received assists from Eric Brenk, who had two and Nick DeCenzo and Matt Youso, who each chipped in one. The Chill were led by Sean Lang, who scored the team's only goal. Lang scored 6:55 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jake Kauppila provided the assist. Erick Majerle recorded 24 saves for the Blizzard. Brookings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Blake Cates made 28 saves for Coulee Region on 33 shots. The Chill incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
