Wichita Falls downs Texas in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Colin Staub gave the Wichita Falls Wildcats a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Texas Tornado when he scored 1:03 into the extra period.

Staub was all over the ice for Wichita Falls, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:26 into the second period. Six fighting penalties were dished out along with five game misconducts.

The Wildcats were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and four majors for 50 minutes in penalty time. Wichita Falls surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game.

Wichita Falls also got a goal from George Pagonis as well. More assists for Wichita Falls came via Charles Hemstrom, Will Vosejpka, and Kyle Bauman, who each chipped in one.

The Texas penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled five minors and four majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. The Tornado had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. Texas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Wichita Falls power plays. The Tornado put 38 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.2 they average per game.

Texas was helped by Leo Lumm, who tallied one goal. Lumm scored 7:13 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Texas. Mitchell McPherson picked up the assist. Brandon Hawkins also scored for Texas. In addition, Texas received assists from Jackson Leef, Justin Greenberg, and CJ Reuschlein, who contributed one a piece.

Evan Cowley rejected 36 shots on goal for the Wildcats. Team's Eliot Grauer and Cooper Cook were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Jordan Kaufer made 18 saves for the Tornado on 21 shots. Texas registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Tornado, Cameron Brown and Anthony Mousseau were ejected from the contest.
