The Austin Bruins survived a determined comeback attempt by the Bismarck Bobcats on the way to a 4-3 win. Austin made the score 4-1 on a goal by AJ Reid at 3:37 in the third period, and Bismarck got as close as 4-3 when Johno May scored 19:56 into the third period. The Bruins relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jay Dickman, Reid and Riley Colvard took 15 of the team's 27 shots. Austin additionally got points from John Simonson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Austin were Wes Judnick, Jake Flynn, Austin Nelson, Cody Dixon, and Brandon Wahlin, who contributed one a piece. The Bobcats were below their usual level of shot production, taking 21 shots compared to the 26.3 Bismarck averages. The Bobcats could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Adam Knochenmus also scored for Bismarck. More assists for Bismarck came via Kevin Becker, Joe Giordano, Shane Omdahl, and Patrick Moore, who each chipped in one. Nicholas Lehr recorded 18 saves for Austin. The Bruins incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bryan Nies made 23 saves for Bismarck on 27 shots. The Bobcats registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
