The Michigan Warriors, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Michigan and clinched a 3-1 victory. The Warriors led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Michigan's Zack Szajner's scored short handed at 10:03 in the second period to put the Warriors up 3-0. Michigan's Trevor Gorsuch was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. McCormick scored on the power play 7:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Michigan. A holding penalty on Rick DeRosa had put Michigan on the power play. Jon Farkas assisted on the tally. Michigan also got points from Szajner, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Farkas, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan were Martin Gruse, who had one. Port Huron was held below its usual level of production. The Fighting Falcons average 3.1 goals per game. Port Huron's offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.3 shots per game it averages. The Fighting Falcons were led by Nicholas Sierra, who scored the team's only goal. Sierra scored 17:03 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Michigan. Easton Powers provided the assist. The Warriors registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Alex Blankenburg made 20 saves for Port Huron on 23 shots. The Fighting Falcons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
