Behind a great game by Mitch Kontny, who had two goals, the Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Janesville Jets, 4-1. Kontny found the back of the net 19 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Johnstown and again while 10:48 into the third to make the score 3-1 Johnstown.The 46 shots that Johnstown put on net surpassed the Tomahawks' average of 26.6 shots per game this season. Zack Wallace also scored for Johnstown. Other players who recorded assists for Johnstown were Cody Bentzel, Brandon Reinholz, and Cody Gylling, who each chipped in one and Brandon Brossoit and Jesse Kessler, who contributed two a piece. Janesville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Johnstown to score on any of its four power plays. The Jets relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jason Ford, Ryan Gotelaere and Eric Carlson took nine of the team's 17 shots. Janesville was led by Brett Bauza, who scored the team's only goal. Bauza scored on the power play 4:11 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Johnstown. The Jets had taken the advantage when the Tomahawks' Reinholz got sent off for interference. Matt Salituro provided the assist. Bodhi Engum recorded 16 saves for Johnstown. The Tomahawks ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Austin Priebe made 42 saves for Janesville on 46 shots. The Jets totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
