Amarillo blows out Wichita Falls, 5-1

The Amarillo Bulls had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Wichita Falls Wildcats.

Hampus Gustafsson had two goals to lead Amarillo to victory. Gustafsson's tallies came at 10:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amarillo and 3:12 into the third to make the score 4-0 Amarillo.

The Bulls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Amarillo's offense rang up 32 shots on Wichita Falls' net.

Amarillo additionally got points from Gage Christianson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. John Rey also scored for Amarillo. Other players who recorded assists for Amarillo were TJ Sherman, who had two and Garret Peterson, Tyler Deresky, Tyler Rostenkowski, TJ Sarcona, Omar Mullan, Mike Davis, and Joe Grabowski, who contributed one a piece.

The Wildcats failed to reach their usual level of shot production, putting 19 pucks on goal after averaging 25.6 shots per game this season.

The Bulls' Paul Berrafato stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Amarillo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Evan Cowley recorded 27 saves for Wichita Falls. The Wildcats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
