The Corpus Christi IceRays tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Texas Tornado would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. Texas took a 4-0 lead during the second period, only to have Corpus Christi storm back on a Tommaso Bucci goal 18:22 into the third period to pull to two goals down. With 37 shots on target during the contest, the Tornado exceeded the 31.7 shots they average per game this year. Texas was led by Brandon Hawkins, who registered three goals. Texas also got a goal from Jordan Paine as well. More assists for Texas came via Scott Conway, who had two and Anthony Mousseau and Jason Eddy, who each chipped in one. The IceRays stifled the Tornado's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 39 shots on goal, Corpus Christi exceeded the 26.2 shots it averages per game this year. Phil Pietroniro also scored for Corpus Christi. Other players who recorded assists for Corpus Christi were John Roisum, Ryan Chiasson, Joe Ginley, and Eric Purcell, who contributed one a piece. Hunter Leisner rejected 37 shots on goal for Texas. The Tornado totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Ben Myers made 33 saves for the IceRays on 37 shots. Corpus Christi totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
