Soo rolls over Jamestown, 6-2

The Soo Eagles had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Jamestown Ironmen.

Eric Rivard had one goal and two assists to lead Soo. Rivard scored on the power play 8:15 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Soo. The Eagles earned a power play opportunity when Huba Sekesi was put in the box for slashing. Michael Covach assisted on the tally.

Soo stifled Jamestown's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Eagles surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Soo averages 3.1 goals per contest. By firing 32 shots on goal, the Eagles exceeded the 25.4 shots they average per game this year.

Soo additionally got points from Covach, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Soo also had goals scored by Alexander Taulien, who had two and Jake Peacock and Layne Martin, who scored one goal each. In addition, Soo received assists from Cody Von Reuden and Nathan Harris, who contributed one a piece and Jared VanWormer and Kyle Loridon, who each chipped in two.

Soo was unable to stop the Ironmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Jamestown eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Ironmen were helped by Victor Johansson, who finished with one goal. Johansson scored 13:54 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Soo. Dylan Zink picked up the assist. Jamestown also got a goal from Ryan Urso as well. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were Matt Lanzillotti, Evan Ritt, and Luc Gerdes, who contributed one a piece.

Tyler Marble made 32 saves for the Eagles on 34 shots. Soo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Tim Shaughnessy made 26 saves before being replaced by Reid Mimmack, who took the loss and made zero saves. Jamestown incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
