Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kenai River Brown Bears defeated the Janesville Jets in a shootout 4-3 (3-0 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. In addition to the clincher, Kenai River got shootout goals from Lucas Kohls and Matt Seidel.Seidel had one goal and two assists to lead the Brown Bears. Seidel scored 10:50 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Alex Jackstadt assisted on the tally. Kenai River stifled Janesville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Brown Bears' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. By firing 35 shots on goal, Kenai River exceeded the 28.9 shots it averages per game this year. Kenai River additionally got points from Jake Bushey, who also had one goal and one assist. Kenai River also got a goal from Jacob Davidson as well. More assists for Kenai River came via Eric Shand, who had one. The 28 shots that the Jets put on net surpassed Janesville's average of 18.3 shots per game this season. The Jets were helped by Jason Ford, who grabbed one goal. Ford scored 10:37 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Kenai River. Bryan Kronberger picked up the assist. Austin Vieth also scored for Janesville. In addition, Janesville received assists from Ryan Gotelaere, Conner Burton, Mike Sullivan, and Matt Salituro, who each chipped in one. Gustaf Johansson rejected 25 shots on goal for the Brown Bears. Kenai River incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Austin Priebe made 31 saves for Janesville on 34 shots. The Jets incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
