Jamestown falls to Soo in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Soo Eagles pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Jamestown Ironmen on a clutch goal by Alexander Taulien.

Soo came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Eagles fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Jamestown's Dylan Zink at 5:00 in the second period. Soo knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Michael Covach at 19:50 in the third period.

Covach had a great game for the Eagles, netting two goals.

Soo managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Eagles finished below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Soo put 42 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.0 it averages per game.

Soo also got a goal from Michael Lant as well. In addition, Soo received assists from Pat Gazzillo, Jared VanWormer, Eric Rivard, and Chris Waterstreet, who contributed one a piece.

The Ironmen's offense rang up 45 shots on the Eagles' net.

Jamestown was led by Evan Ritt, who tallied one goal and two assists. Ritt scored 1:27 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Jamestown. Kenny Curtis picked up the assist. Jamestown also got points from Daniel Cesarz, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were Matt Lanzillotti, who had one.

Tyler Marble rejected 42 shots on goal for Soo. The Eagles registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. The Ironmen's Tim Shaughnessy stopped 38 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Jamestown avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of one power plays.
