Schwan SR-2    Sat, Sep 15, 2012

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Janesville Jets were able to defeat the Austin Bruins, 2-1.

Janesville was sparked by Jason Ford, who registered one goal. Ford scored 7:41 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Janesville. Austin Vieth assisted on the tally.

The Jets were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 29.0 minutes per game Janesville had been spending in the box. By firing 25 shots on goal, the Jets exceeded the 16.8 shots they average per game this year.

Conor Lemirande also scored for Janesville. Other players who recorded assists for Janesville were Matt Salituro, who had two.

Austin put 25 shots on net during the contest, more than the 15.8 it averages per game.

The Bruins were led by John Simonson, who scored the team's only goal. Simonson scored on the power play 13:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Austin. Austin had gotten the advantage when Janesville's Bryan Kronberger was sent off for roughing. Josh Bretner picked up the assist.

Brock Kautz made 24 saves for the Jets on 25 shots. Janesville registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Jets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dylan Gatz was ejected from the game. Nicholas Lehr rejected 23 shots on goal for the Bruins.
