Behind a great game by Luc Boby, who had two goals and one assist, the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings defeated the Aberdeen Wings, 6-3. Boby scored at 17:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 17 seconds into the second to make the score 2-1 Kalamazoo.Kalamazoo put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Aberdeen to score on any of its four power plays. The Jr. K-Wings put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.8 they average per game. Kalamazoo additionally got points from Matt Wurst, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Josh Dangel, who also registered one goal and two assists. Kalamazoo also got a goal from Danny Hamburg as well. More assists for Kalamazoo came via Kyle Gattelaro, who had two and Nick Kovalchik, Brett Beauvais, and Dalton Carter, who each chipped in one. The 29 shots that the Wings put on net surpassed Aberdeen's average of 25.8 shots per game this season. The Wings found themselves short handed often, totaling 36 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. Aberdeen was helped by Joseph Sullivan, who racked up one goal. Sullivan scored 12:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aberdeen. Justin Parizek provided the assist.
