Wichita Falls falls to Port Huron after surprising comeback

The Wichita Falls Wildcats could not hold down the Port Huron Fighting Falcons, and Fighting Falcons erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win.

Port Huron never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Fighting Falcons fell behind 3-0 after a goal by Wichita Falls' Rudy Junda at 11:29 in the first period. Port Huron tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Kody Polin at 16:17 in the third period. The Fighting Falcons got the game winner at 19:20 in the third period on a goal by Polin.

The Wildcats' power play was ineffective against Port Huron's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Fighting Falcons were below their usual level of shot production, taking 20 shots compared to the 29.5 Port Huron averages.

The Fighting Falcons were helped by Nicholas Sierra, who finished with one goal. Port Huron also got points from Polin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Mark Evan Auk, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Huron also got a goal from Vito Aluia as well. In addition, Port Huron received assists from Jonathan Kopacka, Bryan Yim, Mitch Maloney, Ian Miller, and Nick Horne, who contributed one a piece.

With 46 shots on target during the contest, Wichita Falls exceeded the 26.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Eliot Grauer also scored for Wichita Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were Will Vosejpka, Jake Townsend, Kyle Bauman, and Ben Kucera, who each chipped in one.

Max Milosek made 43 saves for Port Huron on 46 shots. The Fighting Falcons incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Cooper Cook recorded 16 saves for the Wildcats. Wichita Falls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
