Austin downs Johnstown in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Riley Colvard gave the Austin Bruins a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Johnstown Tomahawks when he scored 3:59 into the extra period.

Colvard had a great game for Austin, netting two goals.

The 25 shots that the Bruins put on net surpassed Austin's average of 17.3 shots per game this season. The Bruins found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Austin has scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign. The Bruins struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.

Austin also got points from Jake Flynn, who also had one goal and one assist and CJ Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Devin Mitchell also scored for Austin. More assists for Austin came via Josh Bretner, who had two and Chris Fischer, Nate Mondry, AJ Reid, Brandon Wahlin, and Colton Kramer, who each chipped in one.

Johnstown was led by Cody Gylling, who registered two goals. Gylling scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Johnstown. The Tomahawks earned a power play opportunity when Fischer was put in the box for head contact. Gylling's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 2:43 left in the second period. Cobi Smith-Mass assisted on the tally. Johnstown also got a goal from Brandon Brossoit as well. In addition, Johnstown received assists from Casey Nelson, who had one and Jordan Watt, who had two.

Jason Pawloski recorded 18 saves for Austin. The Bruins registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Johnstown's Chris Truehl stopped 20 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Tomahawks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
