Kalamazoo blows out Minot, 6-3Schwan SR-4 Fri, Sep 14, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings were firing on all cylinders against the Minot Minotauros, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. K-Wings emerged with a 6-3 win. Robbie Payne had two goals and one assist to lead Kalamazoo. Payne scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kalamazoo. The Jr. K-Wings had gotten the advantage when Minot's Denis Dalidovich was sent off for checking from behind. Kyle Gattelaro assisted on the tally. Payne's next tally on the power play made the score 5-1 Kalamazoo with 16:03 left in the third period. Luc Boby provided the assist. With 30 shots on target during the contest, Kalamazoo exceeded the 24.0 shots it averages per game this year. Kalamazoo additionally got points from Gattelaro, who also registered one goal and one assist and Josh Dangel, who also had one goal and one assist. Nick Kovalchik also scored for Kalamazoo. Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Danny Hamburg, who had one and Brett Beauvais, who had two. The 28 shots that the Minotauros put on net surpassed Minot's average of 21.8 shots per game this season. The Minotauros were helped by Lucas Oliver, who racked up one goal. Oliver scored on the power play 13:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Kalamazoo. Minot earned a power play opportunity when Kyle Ware was put in the box for hooking. Cameron Rowat assisted on the tally. Minot also got a goal from Ryan Doner as well. More assists for Minot came via Beau Ricketts, who had two and Matt Audette, Cody Milligan, and Jake Clifford, who each chipped in one. Nicholas Stuart recorded 25 saves for the Jr. K-Wings. Kalamazoo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Minotauros' Ryan Ruck stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Minot incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
